Speck is a dry-cured prosciutto, salted, seasoned with a blend of natural herbs and spices, lightly smoked and then aged in the fresh mountain air of Alto Adige, Italy for at least 6 months.
We love this delicious ham for more reasons than we can count, but to state a few:
- Its mild smoke and low-salt flavour make it so deliciously delicate;
- The flavor it brings to so many dishes is truly unique and adds a real WOW factor;
- Unlike prosciutto, you won't get that "pork-y" flavor from cooking with it;
- Versatility: we enjoy a speck sandwich as much as we enjoy wrapping it around an asparagus spear or bread-stick, dicing it and adding it to pasta sauces, soups, stews, salads and more.
