Bardi extra virgin olive oil
Bardi is rare. Only 5% of the olive oil in Italy comes from Tuscany, where the Bardi
olives grow. It is as rare as the poets – the bardi – like Dante and Boccaccio who
lived there.

In the rolling hills of Siena, near the region that produces the noble
Montepulciano wines, a family carries on the centuries-old traditions of Tuscan
extra virgin olive oil. Before Columbus even thought about going to America,
every farmer in Siena was planting four olive trees a year – it was the law.

The quartet of olives that gives Bardi extra virgin olive oil its unique flavor are
Leccino, Frantoio, Moraiolo, and Pendolino. The Tuscan terra produces the olives,
but it takes the skill of a master to mix them into the perfect blend. When you first
uncap the bottle, Bardi releases an extraordinary artichoke aroma. This oil tastes
strongly of its olives and of artichoke, with a bitter and peppery lingering finish.

This bitterness is a quality sought after by olive oil conoscenti. The fresh bite is
the hallmark of a fine Tuscan olive oil, just as tannins are the trademark of a fine
wine.
